There was a shooting at Cabana Club last week. I think this brings up the great topic of what kind of crowd a club owner is willing to accept into his/her venue. Times are TOUGH in Hollywood right now and nightclub owners still have to pay crazy rent each month. I think this leads them to bring in promoters that bring in a less than desirable clientele. It’s the classic short term vs long term dilemma. Short term you will have a decent amount of money generated on these nights to help with your rent, costs, ect. Long term, something like a shooting can happen and literally kill your venue’s name for any future parties leaving you even worse off than before. Time will tell if Cabana Club can recover from this or if they will have to throw in the towel and start remodeling.
Below article from the LATIMES.com January 31st.
A man was hospitalized early this morning after being struck by what appears to be random gunfire while standing outside a Hollywood nightclub, authorities said.
Two of the officers who responded to the shooting outside the Cabana Club were injured when a nearby crowd threw rocks and bottles at them, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Enrique Mendoza said.
Officers found a man about 24 years old with a gunshot wound to his left foot when they arrived at the club on Ivar Avenue just south of Sunset Boulevard about 2:30 a.m., Mendoza said.
The victim was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in stable condition.
Witnesses reported seeing a white Dodge Charger leave the scene, Mendoza said. It was not known how many suspects were involved and no descriptions were available.

Ring in the New Year at the Wonderland Hollywood New Year’s Eve 2010 bash. Tickets start at only $100 which includes OPEN BAR and Pixnation has the LOWEST service fees in the industry! Save money in this tough economy.
Enter Wonderland and your personal fantasy world is revealed as you walk along the checkerboard carpet and past the ticking clock collection. This is the only nightclub in Hollywood where daydreaming is allowed and encouraged. Wonderland takes you to another dimension of reality with an imaginative cross between a whimsical dream and what is real. Wonderland has transformed the meaning of a traditional lounge into a whimsical fantasyland. Revelers dance in the main lounge area under vaulted ceilings dimly lit by upside-down mushroom shaped lights as onlookers enjoy house-infused cocktails and VIP bottle service. The staggered grass ceiling over the patio area offers plush seating and intimate hideaways. The walls are adorned with a collection of mismatched mirrors and curiosities. Tilted bookshelves showcase the liquor selection behind the bar, and you can sneak a peak to the outside world through cottage styled windows.
Ring in the New Year at the Green Door Hollywood New Year’s Eve 2010 bash. Tickets start at only $60 and Pixnation has the LOWEST service fees in the industry! Save money in this tough economy.
Named after a 1972 porn flick “Behind the Green Door”, to walk into Green Door Hollywood is to be whisked away to another time or even another world. It has all the fixings of a turn-of-the-century French estate with red velvet couches, iron tables, chandeliers, regal portraits and museum-worthy murals. And though it gives off the illusion of being romantic and mysterious, the space is quite large. There are two bars, an open-air stone lounge in front where people can smoke and drink, a circular salon outfitted in dark wood in the back and hallways that wrap around the side of the building like a maze. Antique oil paintings line every wall — making partygoers feel like they’ve luckily crashed a party at a chateau in the French country-side.
Ring in the New Year at the Geisha House Hollywood New Year’s Eve 2010 bash. Tickets start at only $40 and Pixnation has the LOWEST service fees in the industry! Save money in this tough economy.
Geisha House is as slick and shiny as a toy from Tokyo. Nestled in the heart of Hollywood, the Geisha House is the place to be if celeb-spotting is your main agenda. The elaborate, modern Japanese decor, kimono-clad geishas and deep red-colored walls. The honeycomb wall behind the bar at the entrance holds flat-screen TVs blasting anime, Japanese game shows and movies. Past that, the round dining room has a backlit streetscape mural lining one side, silk panels on the other, and a towering red column of stacked fireplaces in the middle. (Smokers can steal away to the second-floor patio, which has a retractable roof and separate bar.) And yes, there are actually geishas walking around.
