Boulevard 3 Hollywood, Party Like a Celebrity

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Having proved his mettle with Sunset’s Skybar, uber-club owner Peter Famulari goes to the next level in Hollywood with Boulevard 3. He claims his new it-spot (so “counterclub” even its buzz is pretty hush-hush) is part Studio 54, part Hollywood house party. Indeed, the feel is “vedy propah” English manor-house, with crisp white furniture next to rich mahogany woods, a fireplace and cabana courtyard by the pool. Kind of like raving at Madonna’s London estate might be. The Studio 54 heyday part comes in with the clubs exclusivity. You can’t just request bottle service to reserve one of the second-floor balcony suites (think mini bar, personal Xbox); you have to own one or be an invited guest. And without any advertised regular DJ nights, the entertainment is left to the whim of Famulari, which means velvet rope access is a no-guarantee situation on any given night. Up your chances by calling the reservation line for Boulevard 3 Hollywood.

The Skybar in the Mondrian Hotel

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

If you ever want to see one of the most gorgeous view of Los Angeles at night, then you need to make your way to The Skybar.

The drinks are a little pricier, but it is completely worth it. Just incase if you are wondering what to wear, the dress code is trendy/dressy/casual.

Keep in mind that this place is very selective on who they let into The Skybar, so dress to impress.

Here is another review from Yahoo:
“The hottest celebrity bar in town is also one of the most exclusive. Situated atop the ritzy Mondrian Hotel , long lines wait for a shot to enter the Sky Bar, very common, yet comfortable cocktail lounge. Guests at the hotel are guaranteed entry. The space itself is very low-key and open-air. Stars mingle with their friends amid gorgeous city views. If you can get in, it is worth the experience.”

The New Hollywood MECCA – The Kress

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Hollywood’s night life has a new MECCA playpen with a series of levels for your complete choice of drunken debauchery and enjoyment. Mike Viscuso, a club mogul in San Diego and owner of V2O, has migrated north debuting his multi-floor nightlife destination, The Kress. “I’m bring back an institution to Hollywood,” says Viscuso, and rightfully so given the enormous 4 story building. “The ceilings were totally destroyed,” he says of the historic Kress building at 6608 Hollywood Blvd., “but I hired a group of plastering artists and we patched all the destroyed sections…most people would have saved the 500K.”

Viscuso certainly spared no expense at The Kress, with a basement club straight out of Las Vegas (pictured), a ground floor restaurant, a third floor lounge begging for Paris Hilton and an inspired view-laden rooftop deck with “fire pits, a full service bar, restrooms and raised cabanas on both sides.”

The building, once Kress Department Store (and more recently Frederick’s of Hollywood), has beautiful bones that Viscuso refurbished at great expense. Original marble is everywhere at Kress and the ornate ceilings were restored according to the original 1930s design. “I was able to find the original blueprints that were hand drawn in the 1930s at UCLA,” says the 51-year-old. Mr. Viscuso is not simply looking to open another simple Hollywood nightclub, but creating, revitalizing, and branding another Hollywood landmark.

New Venue to the Scene – STORK Hollywood

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

It looks like exclusivity has taken on another look in Hollywood as STORK is the newest Hollywood hotspot to debut while priding itself in being one of the tightest velvet ropes in town. From the creative minds of such likes as DJ AM and Loyal Pennings that ran the highly successful LAX comes a post-industrial chic and sophisticated lounge like no other. Discreetly hidden in the Hollywood-Highlands complex, this bi-level space is lined with exposed brick and concrete throughout the 8,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor lounge reminiscent of the New York style-nightlife, but the Stork still exudes warmth, with cozy furniture and multiple areas to explore. See where all the celebrities have been playing and hiding. Due to strict club request, capacity will be limited and door will be selective so dress to impress or definitely know someone that knows someone.
